URL Encoder

What this tool does

URL-encodes text (percent-encoding) so it can be safely placed in a URL, query string, or form body - and decodes the reverse. Fully client-side.

Who it's for: Web developers building URLs with dynamic parameters, QA engineers constructing test URLs, and anyone debugging mangled redirects.

When to use

  • •Encode a search query for a GET parameter.
  • •Decode a redirect URL from a tracking link to see where it points.
  • •Prepare a long query string with special characters for curl testing.
  • •Debug a form submission where the server sees wrong values.

How it works

  1. 1Paste text, pick encode or decode.
  2. 2Every non-safe character becomes %XX (hex).
  3. 3Space becomes %20 (or + in form-encoded mode).
  4. 4All processing is local; no data transmission.

Tips

  • •Encode ONLY the value, not the entire URL - otherwise /, ?, & get mangled.
  • •Use encodeURIComponent in JavaScript, not encodeURI - they differ on reserved chars.
  • •Spaces in URL paths → %20; in form bodies → + (historical quirk).
